The ink on Jessica

 Jessica from Tennessee

Where did you grow up?
I grew up around Knoxville, TN. I am currently moving back to Tennessee after traveling around the US for work.

When did you start getting tattoos?
I was 17 when I got my first tattoo. My mom got her first one with me too.

How would you describe your style?
I really like colorful tattoos, that's what I'm most drawn to. My friends like to call me a coloring book, but I don't really have a specific style. I just like whatever I like.

Do you consider tattoos as a serious art form?
Of course!! Have you seen what some artists can do? It's amazing!

How do you see the tattoo culture right now?
It's really blown up! I do think that it's being saturated with artists, but hey if you're good then you're good. I'm glad it's getting more popular, but I still think sometimes we are considered as misfits and I'm ok with that.

What has been your inspiration for getting them?
All my tattoos mean something to me, maybe part of my heritage or things that remind me of my childhood.

What’s your favorite piece?
My chest piece by Tony Mancia, he's an amazing artist. I gave him an idea and he came up with the entire piece. I'm a scuba diver and he really captured everything that I love about the ocean.

Do you catch people starring at you because of your ink?
All the time. Sometimes people will apologize for starring at my chest, but hey I put it there so how could I get upset. I also like checking out others art. :)

Any modeling jobs because of your tattoos?
I model for suicide girls. Everyone should check it out http://suicidegirls.com/girls/Corgan/

What’s your next tattoo?
I love cupcakes, so I want get cupcake tattoos on my feet, but I want them to be zombie cupcakes. That's all I'm going to say. But I also want the lower part of my left leg to be my horror movie tribute. I grew up watching horror movies at a young age, probably too young. My mom always told me I'd probably have nightmares, but she still let me so I watched them.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to get their first tattoo?
Always make sure it's something you'll like looking at for the rest of your life. If not sure then put it somewhere you won't see all the time.

What is one thing that life has taught you?
Patience, the older I get the more patient I need to be. It's just easier and makes sense.

Anything else you would like to add?
You'll never get just one tattoo and if you do then you're probably a pussy. :)
