Where did you grow up?
How was it growing up there, would you say that it
influenced you?
I had a religiously oppressive and suburban mid-western
upbringing, need I say more? Lol
When did you start getting tattoos?
I got some tattoos underage in some metal head's basement. I
would never recommend it to anyone!!
How would you describe your style?
I'm not sure if I have one.... I'm influenced by bohemian
fashion and travelers, DIY, emo/indie, hipster trends, and the 90s.
Do you consider tattoos as a serious art form?
I think they can be a serious art depending on the creation,
but I don't think they should always be taken seriously. Art is subjective, and
can be whimsical or humorous, too!
How do you see the tattoo culture right now?
I think there's finally a cultural acceptance expanding for
heavily tattooed women, more and more of them are popping up than ever
before.
What has been your inspiration for getting them?
I like what I like; nothing I have is very serious.
Generally it's about music, or colors, artwork or an idea that I simply like
with no real deep meaning!
What’s your favorite piece?
Don't have a favorite :) Although I get compliments on the
colors in my sleeve often!
Do you catch people starring at you because of your ink?
If it's not my ink then it's my butt or my style of dress ;)
or all of the above!
In your opinion, do your tattoos change your mood often?
Hmmm, I'm not sure what this means.
What’s your most significant tattoo and why?
I have a few that mean nothing and a few that actually sort
of mean something... I have a little scribbled on penguin that was tattooed on
me by a little (10 year old) friend of mine who designed it as well,
representing a place we met that contributed largely to the coming of age in my
adult life.
What’s your next tattoo?
No immediate plans. It might be nice to get
"Emmanuel" somewhere, my fiancé’s name.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to get their
first tattoo?
Don't bargain shop, for goodness sake!
What is one thing that life has taught you?
Don't get underage tattoos ;) Travel, start WALKING in the
direction of your dreams!! Do what you want, and stop making excuses as to why
you can't. Life really isn't THAT hard, you just perceive it to be.
Will you be getting anymore?
Probably but not anytime soon.
Do you have a favorite quote?
Hmmmm nothing in particular lol, I would recommend some
Thoreau to anyone though!!!
