The ink on Destiny

                                                          Destiny from NYC
Where did you grow up?
Harlem Baby!
How was it growing up there, would you say that it influenced you?
Growing up in Harlem was cool, I mean tough, but hey that’s life. Went through hell and back, but wouldn’t change it for nothing in the world. So no, It actually didn’t influence me. I started late in the tat game!

When did you start getting tattoos?
I started getting tatted at 25, I’m 29 now.

How would you describe your style?
Hmmm.. Well, I’m very girly. I love shopping. Fashion is a big part of my life. That’s why a lot of people are shocked that I’m so tatted! Very unexpected.

Do you consider tattoos as a serious art form?
I do. I feel like it’s a form for people to express themselves.

How do you see the tattoo culture right now?
I see it’s growing. And now it’s not only for men, women are doing it big and I love it!

What has been your inspiration for getting them?
My inspiration for my tats is probably my lost and gains in my life. Things that mean a lot to me, whether good or bad!

What’s your favorite piece?
I love all my tats, they all have a meaning to me. But my favorite ones is my niece’s name, cause they are my world. My, “Pain Time & Glory”, a reminder of all the pain and heartache I’ve been through, but I’m still standing. But the most important one is my chest piece, “My Life”. So many talk shit about me being so tatted, always asking why would I do that to myself or this and that. At the end of the day, it’s my life and I chose to do what I want. No one does shit for me, so when people got some negative shit to say, I just turn to them and show them my chest and say, “Muthafuckers Read!’, Lol.

Do you catch people starring at you because of your ink?
Oh, all the time. Some are curious, some are judgmental, but it comes with the job, lol. But it does get annoying at times, but to look at my tats is to understand me!

In your opinion, do your tattoos change your mood often?
It does at times. I may look at one of my pieces and it takes me back to that moment. Some good, some bad, so it depends! It’s funny, whenever I’m down or mad I get tatted and I’ll be in a good mood after. It’s such a pain reliever, Lol.

What’s your most significant tattoo and why?
I think my newest one on my wrist, “Misunderstood”, cause that’s how I feel a lot of the time!

What’s your next tattoo?
I have a few ideas. I wanna do my ribs, one side heaven, and the other hell.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to get their first tattoo?
I see a lot of people getting tatted just to get tatted. My advice would be to please stop getting stupid ass tats that don’t mean shit. Then regret it, please get something that means a lot to you. Remember it’s on you for life, so make it count!

What is one thing that life has taught you?
One thing life has definitely taught me is, shit ain’t a walk through the park. Shit ain’t easy, but what doesn’t break you makes you stronger! Don’t let shit or short comings stop you from bring who you are or what you want out of life! You gotta make you happy. You matter the most, so fuck what anyone gotta say or think!

Will you be getting anymore?
Oh yeah, I’m nowhere near done. Who don’t like, kiss my light skin ass! Lmao

Do you have a favorite quote?
Never judge a book by its cover. You never know that story til’ you’ve read the depth of the story. You’ll be shocked at what you find out!

Anything else you would like to add?
I’m me, I’m very free spirit. The more people tell me I can’t, the more I will prove you wrong. I’m a soldier, a survivor, bitch I’m me! Tatted, love it or hate it. But it won’t stop me baby! Too fly for all that BS and drama!
